Weekly Newsletter - Friday 20th October,2017

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of the first half term of the year. The last seven weeks have been filled with excellent experiences and amazing achievements. If this is what our pupils can accomplish is such a short amount of time, I personally can’t wait for the rest of the school year.

Parents’ Evening
Thank you to all of the parents who attended parents evening, we hope that you found the pupil passports informative. The feedback from the surveys was overwhelmingly positive, thank you for letting us know what we are doing well and what we can do better. If you haven’t had the chance to complete a survey yet you can login in at home and complete the questions online at the Parent View website.

Bookfair
A massive congratulations and thank you to Mrs Mcfarlane and the year 5&6 spinebreakers who raised an astounding £863.72 at the bookfair over the past week. The children now have £518.23 pounds to spend on new books for the library. Thanks to you all for supporting this community event.

Congratulations - Miss Hammond is getting married!
I am sure you will all join me in wishing Miss Hammond and her fiance  all the best for their upcoming wedding. We hope that they both enjoy their  wonderful wedding day and a very happy life together. Congratulations!

Read, Write, Inc (RWI) Model School Status
We are absolutely thrilled to be appointed as a Read, Write Inc model school for the second year running. This is as a result of the excellent teaching in literacy. As a model school we will be inviting teachers from local schools to observe lessons and see first-hand the impact that RWI has had on results, behaviour and pupil engagement. We are very proud of our staff who work extremely hard every day to ensure that your children receive the best education possible.

Parents Reading Sessions
One of our priorities in school is to teach every child to read and to keep them reading way into the future. Reading often and widely provides the pupils with opportunities to access new words, new worlds and new ideas. Children who read a lot do very well in school because they can access the full curriculum. We would like to invite parents of KS2 pupils to a reading afternoon so that you can learn more about developing a love of reading with your child. We will be providing you with information about ‘My Bookblog’ which is a web based resource that the pupils can access at home. We hope that you are able to join us on this occasion to gain valuable knowledge which will enable you to support your child’s learning at home. Please note the following dates and times for your child's year group.
Monday 30th October - Year 3 @ 2.00pm
Tuesday 31st October - Year 4 @ 2.00 pm
Thursday 4th November - Year 6 @ 2.00 pm
