Kieran The Super Fact Hunter!

Kieran set a new record for hunting down facts.

Did you know that...
  1. John Harrison (24 March 1693 – 24 March 1776) was a self-educated English carpenter and later a clockmaker. He invented the marine chronometer, a long-sought device in solving the problem of establishing position of a ship at sea. The problem was considered so hard that the British Parliament offered a prize of £20,000 (comparable to £2.87 million in modern currency) for the solution!
  2. In 1993 a tidal wave hit the shores of Japan with waves of up to 20 metres high!
  3. Amazingly some species of limpets return to the same spot on the rock known as a "home scar" just before the tide ebbs. It is though that they follow chemical trails. In such species, the shape of their shell often grows to precisely match the contours of the rock surrounding the scar. This behaviour permits a better seal to the rock. It is thought that they follow a mucus trail left as they move.
Well done Kieran, you are a super fact hunter!
